Tutankhamun (flourished 14th century bce) was a king of ancient Egypt (reigned c. –24 bce), known chiefly for his intact tomb, KV 62 (tomb 62), discovered in the Valley of the Kings in Tutankhamun's reign is considered one of the greatest restoration periods in ancient Egyptian history, and his tomb door proclaims his dedication to illustrative constructions of the ancient Egyptian gods. Tutankhamun (also known as Tutankhamen and `King Tut', reigned circa circa BCE) is the most famous and instantly recognizable Pharaoh in the modern world. His golden sarcophagus is now a symbol almost synonymous with Egypt. His name means `living image of Amun'.
