Cecile fatiman biography

Born to an enslaved African woman and a Corsican prince, she lived her early life in slavery, before being drawn to Enlightenment ideals of "liberté, égalité, fraternité" and Haitian Vodou, which shaped her desire to end the institution of slavery in Haiti. Cécile Fatiman was a Vodou priestess who led a ceremony in that inspired the enslaved Africans to rebel against the French colonial rule. She also supported the revolutionaries with food, shelter, and medical aid, and encouraged other Vodou leaders to join the cause.
